Rohtak, April 5
Haryana Minister of State for Sports, Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Gaurav Gautam on Friday said that Haryana was earlier known as an agricultural state, but now it has become a hub of sports. This change has been possible due to the efforts made to promote sports in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini. Minister Gaurav Gautam attended the felicitation ceremony at Gaud Brahmin Degree College as the chief guest. IPS officer Shivcharan Atri was the special guest at the program. The college principal and ex-officio secretary of Gaud Brahmin educational institutions Dr. Jaipal Sharma presided over the function. He welcomed all the guests.
Chief guest Gaurav Gautam said that he felt proud to be in the Gaud Brahmin Educational Institution of North India. Students studying here are flying high in various fields. He assured full support to the Gaud Brahmin Educational Institution by his ministries in the Haryana government. In the program, the Sports Minister honored the medal winning players at the state and national level.
Gaurav Gautam said that the players of Haryana are increasing the pride of the country and the state by winning medals in the Olympics and other national and international games. While congratulating the winners, he said that the new sports policy and modern infrastructure of the Haryana government has provided the players an opportunity to showcase their talent at the global level. Addressing the youth, the Sports Minister said that India is moving towards becoming a developed country by the year 2047, and the role of the youth in this will be very important. He said that the youth of Haryana will contribute in realizing the dreams of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini. The government is ready to provide all possible help, be it sports, education or science.
Minister Gaurav Gautam said that Haryana’s players make their mark in national and international competitions. The state government gives the highest prize money in the country to the players to boost their morale. In the Olympics, gold medal winners are given a cash prize of Rs 6 crore, silver medal winners Rs 4 crore and bronze medal winners Rs 2.50 crore. Paralympic players are also given the same prize money. Apart from this, each player is also given an amount of Rs 15 lakh for participating in competitions.
While presiding over the program, college principal and ex-officio secretary of Gaud Brahmin educational institutions, Dr. Jaipal Sharma appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs, use their energy in the right direction and make their parents proud. The stage was conducted by Dr. Kapil Kaushik.
